the initial stage of implementation of the Permitting-in-a-Box system in Douglas County,

of Washington that will utilize the system designed to help issue use permits and
increase accuracy and consistency of information for land management projects.

automation to streamline our construction and land development permit functions.
InterLocking Software provided such a solution which will enhance permit process

Over the next several months Douglas County and InterLocking
Software will continue their partnership to determine how the
implementation of the system will occur. InterLocking will
provide process improvement support to integrate Douglas
County’s existing inter-departmental operations. Integrating the
existing functions and legacy databases will be a key factor in
order to automate the various business processes.
The permitting system will upgrade the County’s licensing
capabilities and provide a system customized to their needs to increase
productivity and turn around time for processing of permits. Douglas
County, a rural area in North Central Washington, needed a permitting
system that would promote efficiency in their community and give County
departments better access to land development activity and improve
communications between those departments.
“The County was in need of a solution that would provide the best
workflow automation to streamline our construction and land development
permit functions. InterLocking Software provided such a solution which
will enhance permit process and management automation, reporting and
remote access,” said Mark Kulaas, Director of Land Services for Douglas
County.
InterLocking Software will provide a public portal for residents of
Douglas County allowing on-line, on-demand access to government services
and information for the County. Permit applications and inspection
requests, as well as viewing the status of permits and pending
inspection schedules, will be available after the anticipated go-live
date of November 1, 2007.
Douglas County is also receiving InterLocking Software’s DBA On-Demand
Service to ensure database systems are operational 24 hours a day, 365
days a year.
